Veteran actor Talat Hussain passes away in Karachi
Veteran TV and stage actor Talat Hussain passed away in Karachi on Sunday at the age of 83. The President of the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi, Ahmed Shah, confirmed the news, noting that Hussain had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi for an extended period.
In his statement, Shah emphasized Hussain’s profound connection with the ACP, highlighting that he had served on its governing body. “An acclaimed actor like Talat Hussain is born after centuries,” Shah remarked.
The ACP president also noted that Hussain had been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his exceptional work and distinctive acting style. Expressing his condolences, Shah conveyed his support to Hussain’s family during their time of grief.
Hussain’s funeral prayers were held at Aisha Masjid on Khayaban-e-Ittehad Road, and he was laid to rest in the Phase 8 graveyard.
According to PTV, Hussain began his acting career in the 1960s. Seeking to further refine his skills, he traveled to England in 1972 to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
