3G/4G Users in Pakistan Rise by 174,000 in August

According to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the total number of cellular subscribers in Pakistan grew from 192.924 million at the end of July to 193.098 million by August 2024.

Additionally, the number of 3G and 4G users also saw an increase, rising from 136.312 million at the end of July to 137.920 million in August. This shows a continued growth in mobile connectivity in the country.

The penetration of Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) in Pakistan increased from 56.15% at the end of July 2024 to 56.72% by the end of August 2024. Meanwhile, cellular teledensity, which measures the number of mobile connections per hundred individuals in the country, remained stable at 79% as of the end of August.

Regarding individual telecom providers, Jazz experienced a decline in its 3G users, dropping from 2.897 million at the end of July to 2.718 million by the end of August. However, Jazz saw an increase in its 4G user base, which rose from 47.993 million to 48.843 million during the same period.

Zong reported a slight decrease in its 3G subscribers, falling from 1.955 million in July to 1.932 million in August. In contrast, Zong’s 4G user numbers increased, moving from 37.153 million to 37.627 million.

Telenor also experienced a decline in its 3G subscribers, which decreased from 1.551 million at the end of July to 1.519 million by August. However, Telenor’s 4G users grew from 24.929 million to 25.189 million in the same timeframe.

Overall, while there were some declines in 3G subscriptions across different providers, the 4G user base showed significant growth, reflecting a continued shift towards more advanced mobile services in the country.
