The Pakistani rupee (PKR) concluded fiscal year 2023-24 with slight gains against the US Dollar today, opening trading at 278 in the interbank market.
Throughout the day, the PKR remained stable and closed higher against the USD, also showing gains against other major currencies during today’s trading session.
The interbank rate held steady at 278/$ for most of the day before ending unchanged. Across various currency counters in the open market, rates remained consistent at 278 today. The PKR appreciated by 0.01 percent, closing at 278.3412 after a three paisa gain against the dollar.
Year-to-date for the fiscal year, the rupee has appreciated by 2.74 percent.
However, compared to January 2023, the rupee has depreciated by nearly Rs. 51.00. Since April 2022, it has fallen by Rs. 95.00 against the USD. Today’s session saw the PKR gaining three paisas based on exchange rate movements.
In the interbank market, the PKR showed gains against most major currencies today, staying steady against the UAE Dirham (AED) and Saudi Riyal (SAR), while gaining 34 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) and 84 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD).
Conversely, it lost 13 paisas against the Euro (EUR) and 25 paisas against the British Pound (GBP) in today’s trading.
