Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to engage top-tier lawyers for managing pending cases involving the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) across various courts and tribunals.
Leading a meeting in Islamabad today to assess critical issues concerning the tax administration, the Prime Minister declared his personal oversight through weekly reviews to monitor ongoing reforms and revenue collection efforts within the FBR.
Shehbaz emphasized the establishment of Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals and Customs Appellate Tribunals to expedite the resolution of tax-related cases. He also stressed the need to devise a strategy for recognizing exceptional officers within the FBR.
During the meeting, it was reported that groundwork for setting up Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunals was already in progress. A transparent selection process involving written examinations will be implemented for appointing judges to these tribunals.
