Pakistani swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi’s hopes for advancing at the Paris Olympics 2024 were dashed as they failed to progress to the next round in their respective events, as reported by Geo Super on Sunday.
In the men’s 200-meter freestyle, Ahmed Durrani finished last in his heat. He ranked fourth out of four swimmers with a time of 1:58.67, falling short of his personal best of 1:55. Durrani ended up 25th out of 25 swimmers, trailing 11 seconds behind the last qualifier for the semifinals.
Similarly, Jehanara Nabi’s performance in the women’s 200-meter freestyle also concluded early. She finished 26th out of 30 swimmers and did not make it to the top 16. Nabi placed third in her heat of seven swimmers.
On Saturday, shooters Gulfam Joseph and Kishmala Talat also struggled at the Paris Olympics. Joseph competed in the 10-meter air pistol event but did not qualify for the final round, finishing 22nd out of 33 shooters with a score of 571 points out of 600. Kishmala Talat also failed to advance in the same event, scoring 567 points across six series.
Both shooters will participate in the mixed-team event on July 29, with Kishmala’s best prospects lying in the women’s 25m pistol competition.
