Is your iPhone going to work with iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence? Here’s what you should know

Is your iPhone going to work with iOS 18? iOS 18 has cool new features, like Apple’s new AI system, but not all iPhone models can use it.

Today, at its WWDC conference, Apple revealed iOS 18, the next update for iPhones. With this update, you’ll have more options to change your home screen and control center. You can also lock and hide your apps, explore the redesigned Photos app, and use Apple Intelligence, which is Apple’s new personal intelligence system for your iPhone and other devices.

In simpler terms, Apple talked about iOS 18 at its WWDC conference today. This update will let you customize your iPhone’s home screen and control center more. You can also hide and lock your apps and check out the new Photos app. Plus, there’s Apple Intelligence, a new system that helps you use your iPhone and other Apple devices better.

Which phones will work with iOS 18?

Good news! If your iPhone can run iOS 17, it can also run iOS 18. So, if you have iOS 17 on your phone now, you can definitely upgrade to iOS 18. Here’s the list of iPhone models that will support iOS 18:

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 Mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 Mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (second generation and newer)
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

And even though it hasn’t been officially announced, the iPhone 16 series will definitely support iOS 18. But, will my iPhone work with Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence is a big part of iOS 18. It’s Apple’s new AI system for your iPhone. With it, you can do things like quickly summarize text in Safari, make personalized images in Messages, and ask Siri to do more complicated tasks than before. But, not every iPhone will support Apple Intelligence.

Note: Apple Intelligence will come out later this year as a beta. Right now, it’s not available in the iOS 18 developer beta.

Only a few specific iPhone models will work with Apple Intelligence, including:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

That’s it, unfortunately.

These two models are the only ones with the A17 Pro processor, which is the newest and most advanced chip from Apple. Right now, these are the only two devices that can handle the new on-device AI features that Apple Intelligence will have later this year.

The iPhone 16 will probably support Apple Intelligence too, but we don’t know yet if only some models will have it, or if all of them will.
