Government announces plan to provide 22,000 bikes for women in Budget 2024-25 all over Pakistan as part of the Prime Minister Strategic Reform Initiatives for Women’s Mobility-Women on Wheels.

This initiative aims to help women access transportation more easily by offering motorcycles and scooters at discounted prices. The project, costing Rs 4,476.17 million, intends to boost the mobility of women across different regions of the country.

Women residing in Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan can apply for this scheme. It targets various groups of women, including those working in government or semi-government organizations, businesswomen, students, teachers, and healthcare professionals.

The National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) will oversee the implementation of this program. Women will have the option to pay for the motorcycles on a monthly basis, with payments ranging from Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 3,000. Distribution of the scooters is scheduled to take place between August and November.

Previously, the Chief Minister of Punjab started a project to offer 20,000 bikes to students throughout the province as part of the Chief Minister Youth Initiative.

Through this project, students, including male and female, have the opportunity to get motorcycles and e-bikes through simple monthly installment plans. Male students can pay Rs 11,676 per month, while female students have the option to avail the offer at Rs 7,325 per month. This initiative aims to provide easier access to transportation for students, enabling them to travel conveniently to their educational institutions and pursue their studies effectively.
