Pixel 9 ‘Call Notes’ Feature, Record and Transcribe Phone Calls
When Apple introduced Apple Intelligence at WWDC24, it unveiled a new feature that can record, transcribe, and summarize phone calls. If you were envious because Android doesn’t have something similar, there’s good news: a feature like this might be coming to the Pixel 9 series in August.
According to Dylan Roussel on X, Google might be working on a feature called “Call Notes” for the Pixel 9. This feature is said to handle call recording and transcription, though it’s not clear if it will include summarization. However, since Call Notes is similar to the Recorder app already available on Google devices, it’s likely that it will also provide a summary of the call.
The Google Pixel 8 series already has a feature that records conversations and provides transcripts and summaries without needing an internet connection. This is possible with the Recorder app on the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8, or Pixel 8a when Gemini Nano is enabled. While this functionality exists for regular conversations, it doesn’t yet work for phone calls.
With iOS getting a similar feature soon, it seems likely that Call Notes will be introduced on the Pixel 9. Initially, Google might make Call Notes exclusive to the Pixel 9 series. We will find out more when Google officially launches the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold on August 13.
