Apple’s Latest AI Feature Won’t Debut with New iPhones
Apple’s Latest AI Feature Won’t Debut with New iPhones Bloomberg News reports that Apple’s new AI features, known as Apple Intelligence, may be delayed and will not be available at the launch of the new iPhones in September. Instead, these AI enhancements are expected to be rolled out in October through a software update.
Apple has yet to provide the AI tools to software developers, but they are anticipated to be included in the upcoming iOS 18.1 beta and iPadOS 18.1 beta, which are expected to be released this week. The AI features, first introduced at WWDC in June, will be compatible with all new devices powered by the A17 and M series chips.
In addition to the new devices, some older models will also receive the AI updates. These include the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, all iPad Pro tablets released after April 2021, and all iPad Air tablets launched after March 2022.
However, Apple has cautioned that its AI features might face further delays in the European Union due to regulatory issues. The company has indicated that Phone Mirroring, SharePlay Screen, and Apple Intelligence will not be available to EU users in 2024 because of uncertainties surrounding the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). This legislation aims to ensure that rival products and services can interact with Apple devices, but Apple has expressed concerns that these interoperability requirements could compromise product integrity, user privacy, and data security.
