Apple unveiling iOS 18 AI-generated emojis at WWDC
Apple plans to introduce AI-generated emojis in the upcoming iOS 18 update, which will be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 24) next month.
While companies like Microsoft and Google have quickly integrated AI into their services and products, Apple has taken a slower approach. However, Apple is now reportedly developing its own AI framework called “Ajax” and working with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, to add AI features to iOS 18 and the iPhone 16.
One of the first AI features Apple might introduce is similar to Android’s Gboard Emoji Kitchen, which allows users to create emoji mashups. According to Mark Gurman, these new AI-generated emojis will be created directly on the device and will even suggest emojis based on what users are typing.
