The Planning Commission said they’re giving a huge amount of money, Rs 20.25 billion, to education for the 2024-25 budget.
Last year, they only gave Rs 8.5 billion, so this year’s budget is 140 percent bigger. This means they’re giving a lot more money this time.
Because of this big increase, the Federal Ministry of Education can start many new programs this year.
But the reason for this big increase is because the Federal Ministry launched many new programs.
The Minister of Finance changed a decision to reduce the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) budget by Rs 40 billion for the 2024-25 financial year. Initially, the HEC’s budget was decreased from Rs 65 billion to only Rs 25 billion earlier in the year, which worried many educational institutions and people involved in education.
This big cut in the budget made people concerned about what would happen to higher education and development programs across the country.
