YouTube to Launch AI Detection Tools
YouTube is set to introduce new tools that use artificial intelligence (AI). These tools will help identify people, voices, and music in videos on the platform.
One major upgrade is to YouTube’s Content ID system. This system will now use AI to detect when songs are copied or used without permission, even if they are altered with synthetic sounds.
Another new feature will alert users if AI-generated voices are pretending to be real singers. This tool will be available in its first version next year, and it will be rolled out more widely after that.
YouTube is also adding a tool to spot deepfake faces in videos. Deepfakes are videos where faces are manipulated using AI to look like someone else. With this tool, users can find out if their faces are being used in videos without their permission.
The aim of these new tools is to give celebrities and artists more control over their content on YouTube. If someone’s face or voice is used in a video without their consent, they can request to have those videos removed through YouTube’s privacy request process.
In the past, YouTube labeled such videos as AI or misleading content, but now the company is tightening and improving its policies.
