Later this year, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next flagship lineup, the Xiaomi 15 series, and rumors are already swirling with details. Recent leaks have revealed substantial information about the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s camera setup, and a new leak has provided even more insights.
According to a recent report from a Chinese source (translated), the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Pro is poised to feature a new main camera with a single wide aperture, boasting a 50MP resolution and a larger sensor size. This marks a departure from the variable aperture feature seen in its predecessor. Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro is rumored to include a 50MP 3x telephoto periscope zoom camera, confirming earlier speculations. The triple camera setup is expected to enhance photography capabilities significantly, with the main camera likely utilizing a 1-inch OmniVision OV50K sensor, while the periscope zoom camera may feature the Sony IMX882 sensor.
Beyond the camera enhancements, reports suggest that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will be slimmer than its predecessor, possibly around 8.5 mm thick. It may also adopt a micro-curved “2K” resolution display similar to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, alongside upgrades like a larger battery capacity and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. This sensor technology uses invisible sound waves to create a 3D fingerprint map under the screen, offering secure and convenient unlocking, even with wet or oily fingers.
Moreover, Qualcomm is set to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset in October, with Xiaomi potentially being among the first to incorporate it into the Xiaomi 15 series. This chipset is expected to deliver cutting-edge performance and efficiency.
In October last year, Xiaomi introduced its Xiaomi 14 series in China, with global releases for the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, while the Xiaomi 14 Pro remained exclusive to the Chinese market. The release strategy for the Xiaomi 15 Pro remains uncertain, but it is anticipated to be unveiled around October this year, aligning with previous timelines.
