Wasim Akram believes Shaheen Afridi will be Pakistan cricket team captain again

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram believes Shaheen Afridi will be Pakistan’s captain again.

In an interview with an international sports media outlet, Akram shared his thoughts on the ongoing captaincy issue in the national men’s cricket team.

He criticized the frequent changes in leadership within the Pakistan team, saying that such instability prevents consistent performance.

Babar Azam was removed and Shaheen Shah Afridi was made captain. Then, after losing one series, a new chairman came and changed the captain again, Akram stated.

This is not acceptable. It makes us a laughingstock in world cricket. They don’t understand. If you appoint Afridi as captain, you should give him at least a year,” he added.

Akram also mentioned that staying away from Pakistan cricket has its advantages, considering the criticism and politics involved.

They don’t consult us, but it’s probably good that we’re not directly involved with Pakistan cricket. It’s a blessing in disguise because there’s just criticism and politics.

Wasim Akram then talked about what he admires most about Shaheen Afridi. He said Shaheen is great at taking wickets because he always tries to get batsmen out. Even though everyone knows he’ll bowl full deliveries, he still manages to dismiss batsmen, and that’s what impresses Akram.

He’s a bold cricketer and he’s only around 23 or 24 years old, maybe even younger. He has a promising future ahead. Akram believes he will captain Pakistan again, but for now, he should focus on his game.
