Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been removed from the PCB selection committee
Former cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been removed from the seven-member selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The changes in the selection committee happened on Tuesday following Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.
Asad Shafiq and Mohammad Yousuf are still in the committee for now, but sources say they will also be removed soon.
Sources say PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will announce a new selection committee in the next few days. He had mentioned making big changes after Pakistan lost their first two games in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Speaking at a press conference in New York on June 10, following Pakistan’s disappointing loss to India, Naqvi expressed deep disappointment with the defeat.
“It initially seemed that minor changes could fix the Pakistan cricket team, but after their very poor performance, it’s clear major changes are needed,” stated the PCB chairman.
He added that he understood the team’s situation and the reasons behind their defeat.
Today, Mohsin Naqvi met with white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, and assistant coach Azhar Mahmood. He also spoke with both former and current cricketers about the future of cricket.
