Judd Trump won his first Shanghai Masters title by beating fellow Englishman Shaun Murphy 11-5 in the final.
Trump Defeats Murphy to Capture Shanghai Masters The world number two, who thrashed seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semi-final, was in scintillating form, scoring three centuries as he took the £210,000 prize.
Trump, who led 7-3 after the morning session, put himself within a frame of the title with a break of 110 – his 10th century of the tournament.
Murphy responded with two centuries to close the gap to 10-5 before Trump sealed his first title of the 2024-25 season.
“This is one of the top five events of the season, so to win this is an amazing start to the season,” said the 2019 world champion.
I would like to replicate what I did last season and win close to maybe five or more events this season. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better start.
