The UAE aviation team is happy with the security at Pakistan airports
A team from the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) visited Karachi and Islamabad airports and was pleased with the security arrangements there. The assessment was led by Mr. Abdullah Al Kaabi, Senior Director of GCAA UAE, and was hosted by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
During their assessment, the UAE-GCAA team thoroughly inspected various aspects of aviation security at both airports. This included checking procedures for screening passengers and baggage, ensuring security in cargo and catering services, and reviewing the operations of airlines flying directly to the UAE. They also evaluated the performance of ground handling agents, regulated cargo agents, and catering companies.
The focus of the assessment was on security measures such as access control, aircraft security checks, and compliance with national and airline security protocols. The UAE-GCAA team expressed appreciation to PCAA for their hospitality and confirmed satisfaction with the overall security protocols implemented by Airport Management, Airport Security Force (ASF), airlines, cargo handlers, and other stakeholders. They noted that these measures met international standards and best practices.
This visit was significant as it marked the first assessment of Pakistan’s aviation security by UAE-GCAA. It followed previous audits this year by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO-USAP) and assessments by the UK Department for Transport (UK DfT).
