The ICC has announced that the prize money for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be the largest ever. This tournament, the ninth of its kind, will take place in nine venues across the West Indies and the USA, concluding with the final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. This year’s event is the biggest yet, featuring 20 teams and a total of 55 matches spread over 28 days.

The winning team will receive a minimum of $2.45 million from a prize pool totaling $11.25 million. The runners-up will get at least $1.28 million, and every participating team will receive a minimum of $225,000.

The prize money breakdown includes $2.45 million for the winners, $1.28 million for the runners-up, and $787,500 for each losing semi-finalist. This significant increase in prize money aims to recognize the efforts of the participating teams and players and adds to the excitement of the tournament.

Teams that do not advance past the Super 8s will receive $382,500 each. Teams ranked 9th to 12th will receive $247,500 each, while teams ranked 13th to 20th will receive $225,000 each. In addition, there is a bonus of $31,154 for each match won during the early rounds, excluding the semi-finals and final.

The tournament begins with 40 first-round matches. The top eight teams from these matches will progress to the Super 8s. From there, four teams will advance to the semi-finals, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice shared his excitement about the event. He talked about how special it is and mentioned the big prize money. He said that millions of fans all over the world will love watching the players in what will be a great event.
