SSGC has taken out more than 900 unauthorized connections in Sindh and Balochistan. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has removed 915 illegal connections from residential areas in Sindh and Balochistan through targeted raids. During these operations, two individuals were arrested for theft and tampering with gas transmission lines.
In Karachi and Hyderabad, approximately 420 illegal connections were dismantled in areas such as Garden, F. B. Area, North Karachi, Liaquatabad, and Ramaswami. Service lines associated with theft were also taken down, with claims being pursued.
In Balochistan, SSGC’s theft control teams continued their crackdown by eliminating 470 unauthorized connections in Quetta, Pishin, Kalat, and nearby areas. Additionally, more than 12 fake meters were discovered and removed during these actions, with corresponding theft claims initiated.
Further raids by SSGC teams in Nawabshah and Larkana resulted in the dismantling of 25 connections involved in illegal activities. Equipment used for theft, such as theft clamps and rubber pipes, was confiscated, and corresponding claims are being processed due to theft being a major cause of Unaccounted-for-Gas (UFG) or line losses.
In a significant development, Suno, who was apprehended for tampering with transmission lines under the assumption they carried oil, was arrested by Jamshoro Police following vigorous prosecution by SSGC’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operation team.
