Sindh recently hosted its inaugural auction of premium number plates, organized by the Excise and Taxation Department, drawing a large crowd eager to acquire distinctive registration plates.
The highlight of the auction was the sale of the ‘A1’ number plate, which set a new record by fetching an astounding Rs100 million (10 crore rupees). Businessman Muzamal Kareem made headlines with this purchase and also secured the ‘7’ plate for Rs45 million (4.5 crore rupees).
Another notable transaction involved the ‘786’ number plate, purchased by businessman Sorosh for Rs26 million (2.6 crore rupees). Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Shah personally presented Sorosh with the ownership certificate for this coveted plate.
Provincial ministers underscored that these premium number plates represent more than mere registration identifiers—they are valuable investment assets. Winners of the auction have the potential to profit from future resale opportunities.
The auction marked a significant milestone for Sindh, underscoring the increasing allure of exclusive and prestigious number plates. It demonstrated the substantial financial investments individuals are willing to make for the prestige associated with owning unique registration plates.
