Samsung collaborates with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 for testing its 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM Samsung Achieves Milestone with 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM Verification in Collaboration with MediaTek

Samsung’s unveiling of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM in April marked a significant advancement in memory technology, with mass production slated for the latter half of the year. Recently, the new RAM chips reached a critical milestone by successfully completing verification at the industry-leading speed of 10.7Gbps, facilitated through a collaboration between Samsung and MediaTek.

The validation process involved pairing the upcoming Dimensity 9400 chipset with 16GB of the new LPDDR5X RAM, a meticulous three-month endeavor. While specific details about the Dimensity 9400 remain undisclosed by MediaTek, it is anticipated to support this cutting-edge mobile RAM technology, expected to debut in the second half of this year following the announcement of the Dimensity 9300 in November 2023.

Samsung’s latest LPDDR5X chips promise notable enhancements, boasting a 25% improvement in power efficiency and overall performance compared to the previous generation. Highlighting AI capabilities as a pivotal feature, Samsung positions these advancements to benefit its Galaxy S and Z series smartphones, where AI integration has become increasingly prevalent.

Beyond smartphones, LPDDR5 chips are also making strides in automotive applications, aligning with the automotive industry’s focus on AI-driven functionalities, particularly in autonomous driving technologies.

JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, underscored the significance of the collaboration with Samsung, emphasizing that MediaTek’s forthcoming Dimensity chipset will leverage the LPDDR5X architecture to unlock unprecedented AI capabilities and mobile performance levels. This technological leap aims to empower developers and users alike, facilitating richer AI functionalities while minimizing impact on battery life.
