Sahibzada Farhan Appointed Captain of Pakistan Shaheens for Red Ball Matches in Australia
Karachi, 12 July 2024: Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as captain of Pakistan Shaheens for their upcoming two four-day matches against Bangladesh ‘A’ in Darwin, Australia, scheduled from 19 to 29 July.
At 28 years old, Sahibzada Farhan brings experience from his five T20Is for Pakistan. A right-handed batsman, he has an impressive first-class record with 4,401 runs in 58 matches, including eight centuries and 27 half-centuries.
In addition to the red-ball fixtures, Pakistan Shaheens will also participate in two 50-over matches and a nine-team T20 tournament in Darwin. The captain for the white-ball series will be announced later.
The 15-member squad for the red-ball matches is set to depart from Karachi via Dubai early Saturday morning. Spinner Faisal Akram replaces fast bowler Hunain Shah, who is sidelined due to a back injury.
Accompanying the team to Darwin is Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, who will oversee the squad until early August after the conclusion of the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’ on 29 July. Gillespie will then transition to his role as head coach of the national team in preparation for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi and Karachi.
