PM Shehbaz rolls out scheme for Balochistan with 70% funding from Centre
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a substantial initiative during his visit to Quetta, unveiling a project aimed at solarising 28,000 tube wells in Balochistan. The project, costing Rs55 billion, will see the federal government covering 70% of the expenses. Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed confidence in Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s leadership and projected implementation within three months.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the importance of reducing the nation’s debt burden and avoiding reliance on international loans. The initiative aims to provide uninterrupted electricity to farmers, replacing inefficient grid connections with solar-powered systems. Highlighting the program’s details, he noted the significant economic benefits and structural reforms it would bring to the province.
He also discussed ongoing development projects in Balochistan and urged elected representatives to prioritize public welfare and prosperity. Additionally, discussions with PML-N parliamentarians and the National Party delegation focused on the political landscape and mutual interests in the province.
