Punjab to Launch Glass Train Project Linking Rawalpindi and Murree

The Punjab government is working on an exciting new project: a glass train project that will travel between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in Murree. This project aims to provide a scenic and enjoyable travel experience.

To make sure everything goes smoothly, the government has formed a special working group. This team includes officials from 18 different departments and is led by the transport minister. The group also includes the Rawalpindi commissioner, the deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi and Murree, and various department heads.

The planned train route will be 65 kilometers long. It will start in Saddar, Rawalpindi, and pass through beautiful areas like the Margalla Hills and Barakahu before reaching Bhurban, a popular spot in Murree.

The National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) is responsible for studying the project’s feasibility. They will look into both the technical details and the cost to ensure the project is done efficiently.

The project was officially approved by Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, on June 29, 2024. It is part of a larger plan to develop Murree and improve tourism in the area. The glass train is expected to be a major attraction, offering a modern way to travel while enjoying the stunning views of the region.

With the project moving forward, the government is focused on making sure every step is taken to make this exciting idea a reality. Once finished, the glass train will enhance travel between Rawalpindi and Murree, making it easier for people to visit and enjoy the hill station’s natural beauty.
