In a shocking incident in Lahore’s Sunder area, well-known playwright Khalil ur Rehman Qamar was robbed by unknown suspects who posed as producers for a play.
According to the police report filed by drama writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, a woman named Amna Urooj contacted him, claiming to be a big fan and interested in producing a drama. Qamar agreed to meet her at a location she provided.
When I arrived at the location, I was led to a room where I was forced to sit down. After a while, several armed strangers entered, assaulted me, and took my mobile phone, cash, ATM card, and other belongings, Qamar stated in his report to the police.
Qamar further explained that he was blindfolded and taken to an undisclosed place by the suspects. They demanded an additional Rs 1 million for his release. However, when the ransom wasn’t paid, they abandoned him at an unknown spot and fled.
The police have registered a case of robbery and kidnapping based on Qamar’s complaint. The investigation has been assigned to the CIA police, who have assured that they are actively searching for the suspects and are confident of apprehending them soon.
