PDMA Issues Monsoon Warning Thunderstorms Pose Threat to Punjab During Ashura

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning of thunderstorms across Punjab on the 8th and 9th of Muharram. According to a spokesperson, heavy rainfall is expected in various districts of Punjab tonight.

Ahead of Muharram processions, the PDMA Director General, Irfan Ali Kathia, emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures due to the severity of the weather.

The PDMA advised the public to steer clear of electric poles and wires, avoid gatherings on weak rooftops, and minimize crossing rivers and streams where possible, as stated by the DG.

Furthermore, there is a potential for flooding in hilly areas near Dera Ghazi Khan, necessitating extra caution for residents along riverbanks. Rescue agencies are urged to maintain heightened vigilance during the 8th and 9th of Muharram.
