PCB Reshuffles Selection Committee Once More Lahore PCB Revamps National Selection Committee Structure
Following the dismissal of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq as selectors, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced a new format for the national men’s selection committee. Initially comprising seven members, including former players like Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Yousuf, and data analyst Bilal Afzal, along with team coaches and the captain, the committee underwent significant changes after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the recent T20 World Cup.
The revamped committee now consists of four voting members, including Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Yousuf, the team captain, and the head coach of the respective format. Additionally, there are five ex-officio or non-voting members, including Pakistan’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, PCB chairman’s advisor Bilal, manager analytics and team strategy Hasan Cheema, director high-performance Nadeem Khan, and director international cricket Usman Wahla. Notably, the committee currently lacks a designated chairperson.
Although the PCB has not officially announced these changes, they are reflected on the board’s website. Asad Shafiq will also retain his role as a member of the national women’s team selection committee, which now includes former Pakistan international Batool Fatima, alongside the captain and head coach, without non-voting members.
