Pashto actress killed in Nowshera
Popular Pashto actress killed in Nowshera Akbarpura. Her brother accused suspects of killing her in the name of ‘honor’.
Police have registered a case against two suspects based on the complaint of the victim’s brother. He claimed that the accused had been threatening Khushboo to leave the entertainment industry. When she refused, they allegedly shot her and left her body in the fields.
The police have taken custody of the body and conducted a post-mortem examination. They are currently investigating the case and conducting raids to apprehend the suspects mentioned in the complaint.
Khushboo, originally from Swabi, was a famous actress in the Pashto drama industry.
This incident brings to mind the murder of social media personality Qandeel Baloch, who was killed in 2016 by her brother in the name of “honour.”
Baloch gained fame for her controversial posts, which many in the country considered suggestive and immoral.
Her brother, Muhammad Waseem, was arrested and later sentenced to life in prison by a trial court for strangling her. He boldly stated to the press that he felt no remorse for the killing because he found her behavior “intolerable.”
In 2022, he was acquitted by the Lahore High Court after serving less than six years in prison.
This case gained significant attention as one of the most high-profile “honour killings” in recent years. In these cases, women are subjected to deadly punishment by male relatives for supposedly bringing “shame” to the family’s reputation.
