Pakistan’s 11-Month Fish Export Revenue Reaches $379.2 Million

Islamabad: According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan earned $379.207 million from the export of 185,007 metric tonnes of fish and fish preparations in the first eleven months of the current fiscal year.
Compared to last year’s export earnings of $456.668 million from July to May (2022-23), fish exports for the same period in July-May (2023-24) decreased by 16.96%.
In terms of quantity, exports of fish and fish preparations also declined by 5.44% compared to the previous fiscal year, falling from 195,642 metric tonnes to 185,007 metric tonnes.
Year-on-year, seafood exports in May 2024 dropped by 26.74% to $37.053 million from $50.578 million in May 2023. The quantity of seafood exports decreased by 15.02%, down from 22,081 metric tonnes to 18,765 metric tonnes.
Month-on-month comparisons showed a 14.99% decline in seafood exports from May 2024, totaling $37.053 million, compared to $43.586 million in April. Quantity-wise, fish exports in May decreased by 8.78% from 20,571 metric tonnes in April 2024.
Overall, Pakistan’s food group exports saw a significant increase of 46.42% during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year, amounting to $6,825.932 million compared to $4,662.030 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, as per the latest PBS data.
