Pakistan Launches First High Speed Rail Link from Lahore to Rawalpindi
Lahore and Rawalpindi are planning to introduce their first high-speed rail service. Local media reports say that a proposal has been submitted to the Punjab Chief Minister for approval. The project is expected to cost over Rs400 billion and aims to greatly improve travel between the two cities.
This new high speed rail service will allow trains to travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h, cutting the travel time between Lahore and Rawalpindi to less than two hours. This will make commuting faster and more convenient for passengers.
The proposal includes an action plan and a pre-feasibility study done by the railway department. Funding for the project is likely to come from the Department of Planning and Development. One of the main challenges is securing the initial investment needed to start the project. If the project gets approved, it would be a significant step toward modernizing Pakistan’s transportation system, making travel quicker and more efficient.
