Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s long-awaited ‘Lost Album’ is set for release in September.
A forthcoming album featuring previously unreleased recordings by the renowned qawwali maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is scheduled for release on September 20, marking over 27 years since his passing.
Titled “Chain of Light,” the album was unearthed from the tape archives of Real World Records, founded by Peter Gabriel. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had signed with Real World Records in 1989 and collaborated on several acclaimed albums throughout the 1990s.
Recorded at Real World Studios in April 1990, the album showcases Nusrat and his eight-member ensemble performing four traditional qawwali compositions. Notably, one track from this collection has never been publicly heard before, spotlighting Nusrat’s exceptional vocal prowess in high-fidelity audio.
