Nothing’s CMF Phone 1 Debuts with Easy Swappable Back

Nothing has introduced its first smartphone under the affordable CMF brand, the CMF Phone 1. This device features a user-swappable back panel and is powered by a Mediatek 7300 chipset. It boasts a 6.67″ Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. The phone has a 16 MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole design and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

On the back, the CMF Phone 1 is equipped with a 50 MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. The design is a key highlight of the CMF lineup, featuring a replaceable back panel that allows for customization and easy repairs. This panel also includes a mounting point for various accessories.

The phone runs on Nothing OS 2.6, based on Android 14, and includes features like the AI Wallpaper Generator. It will receive 2 years of major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.

The CMF Phone 1 has a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 33W wired charging and 5W reverse wired charging, but it lacks wireless charging. It is IPX2 certified for water resistance, meaning it can withstand dripping water, though Nothing claims it survived being submerged in 25 cm of water for 3 seconds during testing.

Pricing and availability vary by region. In India, the 6/128 GB model is priced at INR 15,999, and the 8/128 GB model will cost INR 17,999. The 8/256 GB model is not available in India but is priced at £239/€279 in other markets. In the US, the phone will be available through Nothing’s “US Beta Program.” Color options include Black, Orange, Blue, and Green.

Additional accessories like a new rear panel (£29), a stand (£19), a lanyard (£19), or a card case (£19) can be attached to the mounting point. The CMF Phone 1 can be purchased on cmf.tech, with shipping of the 8/128 GB model in Black starting on July 12, and the Green variant and 8/256 GB version in Black shipping on July 23.
