Microsoft Reports 8.5 Million Devices Affected by CrowdStrike Outage
A global technology outage, caused by a software update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike, impacted nearly 8.5 million Microsoft devices, according to a blog post from Microsoft on Saturday.
Microsoft stated that the update from CrowdStrike affected approximately 8.5 million Windows devices, which is less than one percent of all Windows machines. They mentioned that CrowdStrike has developed a scalable solution to help fix the issue on Microsoft’s Azure infrastructure. Microsoft also collaborated with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to find effective solutions.
The outage had widespread effects across various industries, including airports and airlines. Air passengers worldwide experienced delays, flight cancellations, and difficulties with check-ins due to the IT issues that affected banks, media companies, and other sectors.
