Lucky Motor Corp. plans to launch Kia’s new electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan later this year. The upcoming models include the Kia EV5, EV9, and the new versions of the Sportage and Sorento.
Previously, Kia had introduced older versions of the Sportage and Sorento in Pakistan. Although the Sportage received a facelift, the latest international model wasn’t available in Pakistan.
Here’s a closer look at the new models:
Kia EV5: This is an electric compact crossover SUV. It can travel up to 665 kilometers on a single charge.
Kia EV9: This model is a key part of the new lineup. The EV9 is an all-electric SUV designed for modern needs. It can carry 6 to 7 passengers and offers a mix of ruggedness and sophistication. It’s built to be emission-free, connected, and able to drive autonomously.
- Seating: The EV9 has three rows of seats and can accommodate up to seven passengers. The standard model comes with seven seats, but there’s a GT-line version that offers two six-seat options.
- Platform: The EV9 is built on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This platform allows for a longer wheelbase and a larger battery, which helps in providing fast charging, long driving ranges, and a roomy interior.
- Charging: The EV9 supports ultra-fast charging up to 210 kW. It has a Combined Charging System (CCS) socket on the right side. It works with both 400V and 800V charging systems. With 800-volt ultra-fast charging, you can get up to 249 kilometers of range for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and 226 kilometers for the all-wheel drive (AWD) version with just a 15-minute charge. Charging from 10% to 80% takes about 24 minutes, delivering 70 kWh of energy to the battery.
The EV9 has received recognition in the automotive world, winning the ‘World Electric Vehicle’ and ‘World Car of the Year’ awards at the 2024 World Car Awards during the New York International Auto Show.
In addition to these EVs, the new versions of the Sportage and Sorento are also expected to be launched, bringing the latest features and updates to these popular models.
