Three Bodies Recovered, Efforts Underway to Retrieve Remaining Three
Khushab District witnessed a tragic incident when 10 children drowned while bathing in the Chashma Jhelum Link canal. Prompt response from local authorities and rescue teams resulted in the immediate rescue of four children.
Subsequently, rescue operations successfully recovered the bodies of three of the six missing children from the canal, including two identified as Waqas and Samiullah. Among the victims were two brothers, all between the ages of 14 and 16, reported to be close relatives.
Efforts to locate the remaining three bodies were ongoing, supported by Pakistan Navy teams. Despite extensive efforts by local teams and specialized diving units, the search for the remaining missing children continued without success.
Hafiz Abdul Rasheed, overseeing the rescue operation, acknowledged the challenges faced, particularly with the deployment of special diving teams. “Efforts are ongoing to locate and recover the bodies of the remaining four missing children,” he confirmed.
The heartbreaking incident has deeply affected the local community in Khushab, prompting an outpouring of grief and concern. Authorities emphasized the importance of caution around water bodies, especially during the monsoon season when water levels can rapidly increase, posing significant risks.
