The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted moderate rain for Karachi today, Monday.

Currently, Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy weather that is warm and humid. According to the PMD’s weather report, moderate rainfall is expected in the city. The temperature in Karachi is 32 degrees Celsius, with a morning humidity of 70%. However, due to the heat index, it may feel as hot as 41 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature could reach 37 degrees Celsius later in the day.

Earlier forecasts from the PMD warned residents of Karachi and other parts of Sindh to prepare for thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning as the monsoon season begins today, July 8. Monsoon winds are likely to bring rain to several areas, including Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Dadu, and Jacobabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a high-level committee to manage potential emergencies during the upcoming monsoon season. He chaired a meeting to discuss the monsoon forecast and potential emergencies.

During the meeting, the prime minister decided to oversee the response personally if there are floods during the monsoon. He stressed the importance of sharing advanced monsoon information through national broadcasts and ensuring that weather updates reach farmers regularly. PM Shehbaz assured full support to farmers during emergencies, highlighting the urgent need for assistance in such situations.

He directed all relevant institutions to stay vigilant during the monsoon period. Additionally, he instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to assist provincial governments and related agencies as needed.
