Indonesian Embassy Marks Independence Day with Celebration The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Islamabad hosted a Flag Hoisting Ceremony this morning to celebrate Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day. Chargé d’Affaires Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma led the event, marking the climax of a series of pre-celebration activities designed to foster unity, mutual respect, and patriotism among Indonesians.
The ceremony, held at the Embassy’s premises, saw participation from embassy officials, their families, and hundreds of Indonesian diaspora residing in Pakistan. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including prominent religious leaders, journalists, experts from reputable think tanks, and representatives from the business community.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence in tribute to national heroes, followed by the reading of the Declaration of Independence. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony, known in Indonesian as “Upacara Bendera,” was marked by the raising of the red-and-white Indonesian flag by a team of Indonesian students, accompanied by the national anthem “Indonesia Raya.”
After the formal proceedings, the Chargé d’Affaires hosted a reception featuring Tumpeng, a traditional cone-shaped rice dish, symbolizing important events in Indonesia. In his remarks, Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan, saying, “On behalf of the Indonesian Embassy, I thank you for joining us in celebrating this special day. Indonesia and Pakistan, two of the world’s largest Muslim countries, share a bond of friendship that we cherish.”
He also invited guests to the Indonesian Expo 2024 at Centaurus Mall, scheduled to open later in the afternoon, and expressed hopes to see them in Indonesia in the future.
Additionally, the Chargé d’Affaires awarded certificates of appreciation to a group of Indonesian students in Pakistan for their outstanding academic achievements.
Guests expressed their appreciation for the well-organized event. Mr. Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, CEO of D Watson Group, said, “A truly enjoyable experience and well-organized event.
