Imad Excited for Better Performance Against England
LEEDS: Pakistan is quickly finding and thinking about what they’re not good at so they can get better before the T20 World Cup, said all-rounder Imad Wasim.
Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Preparation Picks Up Pace
Pakistan started preparing for the T20 World Cup in April with a series against New Zealand. They made changes like making Babar Azam the captain again, bringing back Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir from retirement, and testing new players.
Although Pakistan tied the series with New Zealand, they were shocked by Ireland in the first match of their series. But they bounced back under Babar’s leadership and won the series.
Their final warm-up before the T20 World Cup is against England, starting on May 22.
“We’re focusing on improving ourselves,” said Imad. “We’ve had meetings and discussions with coaches, the chairman, and the captain. You’ll see changes in this series and the World Cup.”
Imad admitted Pakistan didn’t play well against New Zealand and Ireland. “We can’t relax anymore,” he said. “Especially against England, we need to play with intensity.”
Gary Kirsten joined as Pakistan’s white-ball head coach just before the England series. Imad said they had a good meeting with him.
Meanwhile, England is excited to have Jofra Archer back after his long injury break. They hope his pace and skill will intimidate opponents. England wants to perform well after a disappointing 50-over World Cup.
