NGIRI Celebrates National Championship of Final Year Projects

Today, the National Grassroots ICT Research Initiative (NGIRI) hosted its Prize Distribution Ceremony for the National Championship of Final Year Projects, honoring exceptional undergraduate achievements in ICT disciplines.

Established in 2012, NGIRI has been pivotal in promoting grassroots research, development, and innovation by financially supporting outstanding Final Year Projects (FYPs) across public and private sector institutions.

To date, NGIRI has funded an impressive 7,115 FYPs, with disbursements totaling Rs. 384.24 million. This initiative has cultivated a culture of creativity and technical advancement among youth, driving Pakistan towards a brighter technological future.

Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood, Secretary IT & Telecom, graced the occasion as chief guest, commending the students’ efforts and emphasizing innovation’s role in advancing the nation.

He remarked, “NGIRI harnesses our youth’s creative potential. By backing their innovative projects, we nurture research, development, and a technologically empowered Pakistan. These students’ achievements signal a promising future for our nation.”

Adeel Aijaz Shaikh, CEO of Ignite, highlighted NGIRI’s impact on the ICT sector. “NGIRI is fundamental in fostering grassroots innovation,” he stated. “Through financial support for these projects, we invest in future ICT industry leaders. Today’s success stories reflect students’ dedication, supported by academia and industry partners.”

The ceremony culminated in prize distribution to top projects, acknowledging their significant contributions to ICT.

The event showcased students’ innovative solutions, underscoring the importance of cultivating research and development at the grassroots level.
