How the Roshan Gharana Scheme Works,
The Roshan Gharana initiative offers solar panels to households through affordable payments. The size of the solar system depends on how much electricity a household uses each month. Here’s what each household can get:
- If a household uses up to 50 units per month, they get a 500-watt solar system for free.
- Those using between 50 and 100 units get a 1-kilowatt system.
- For households using 200 to 300 units monthly, a 1100-watt system is provided. Larger systems are available for higher usage levels.
To qualify for the scheme, households must use up to 500 units of electricity annually and must pay taxes. People receiving government aid or involved in electricity theft are not eligible.
Simple Registration and Payment,
Registering for the Roshan Gharana scheme is easy. Interested residents need to text their ID card number and electricity bill reference number to 8800. Eligible households will be chosen through a lottery and can get solar systems through the Bank of Punjab or the National Bank.
Payments are flexible. Customers pay 25% of the solar system’s cost upfront with no interest. They then pay the rest in interest-free installments over five years, added to their electricity bills. For users using more than 500 units, the government will cover 75% of the interest.
