Microsoft Upgrades Windows 11 with Fixes for Photos App Issues

Microsoft recently rolled out updates for Windows 11, which included improvements to its default Photos app. However, users, particularly in organizational settings, have reported encountering issues with the app’s functionality.

Unlike the smooth experience often enjoyed by home users, these problems primarily affect business customers. Users have noted instances where the Photos app fails to operate as expected.

In response to these reports, Microsoft swiftly issued an official workaround aimed at resolving these issues and restoring normal functionality for affected customers.

Fixing Photos App Issues on Windows 11

To tackle the problems users are encountering with the Photos app on Windows 11, Microsoft has outlined a series of steps aimed at resolving these issues effectively:

  1. Restart Your PC: Start by restarting your computer and check if the Photos app begins functioning correctly.
  2. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your system is fully up to date by checking for and installing any pending Windows updates.
  3. Consider Switching from Dev Channel to Beta (if applicable): If you’re using the Dev channel, switching to the Beta channel might help resolve compatibility issues with the Photos app.
  4. If Issues Persist, Follow These Steps:
  • Download the latest WinAppSDK that matches your PC’s specifications.
  • Right-click on windowsappruntimeinstall-x64.exe and select ‘Run as administrator’. This will initiate the installation process through a command prompt window.
  • For IT administrators, execute the installer with system or admin privileges. The installation needs to be performed only once per device.

Microsoft acknowledges that these steps offer a temporary workaround. They are actively developing a permanent solution, which will be released in the near future.
