During a scorching summer heatwave in Washington, DC, a six-foot-tall wax statue of Abraham Lincoln underwent unexpected transformation at Garrison Elementary School.
Crafted by artist Sandy Williams IV and sponsored by non-profit organization CulturalDC, the statue began to dramatically melt as temperatures soared to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Under the intense heat, Lincoln’s head detached, a leg separated from the body, and even the chair supporting him sank into the softened ground. Despite efforts to shield it, the wax statue, designed to change like a candle, succumbed to the extreme heat, sparking widespread online attention with viral photos and discussions.
