Gambhir’s Prediction About Rohit Sharma, Recalled by Former Coach
After being appointed as India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir’s childhood coach shared a bold prediction about Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Recently, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed Gambhir’s new role, replacing Rahul Dravid after the T20 World Cup 2024.
Gambhir’s childhood coach, Sanjay Bharadwaj, revealed that Gambhir had foreseen Rohit Sharma’s future greatness long ago. Bharadwaj explained that Gambhir had expressed this belief when Rohit was struggling to perform well. According to Bharadwaj, Gambhir’s prediction about Rohit turned out to be accurate over time.
Speaking highly of Gambhir’s coaching abilities, Bharadwaj emphasized that Gambhir values talent and does not show favoritism. This shows Gambhir’s commitment to nurturing and recognizing potential in players.
Bharadwaj said, If Gautam believes something is right for the team, he sticks to that decision firmly. He plays to win and focuses on having a well-balanced team. He doesn’t show favoritism; his only favorite thing is cricket.
It’s important to note that India won the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the final in Barbados on June 29.
After their victory, Rahul Dravid stepped down as India’s head coach, and Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shorter format of cricket.
During the tournament, Sharma was the second-highest run scorer, scoring 257 runs in eight matches with an average of 36.71 and a strike rate of 156.71.
