FBR Blocking SIM Cards of People Who Haven’t Paid Taxes

FBR Blocks More Than 105,000 SIM Cards of People Who Haven’t Paid Taxes

FBR Blocking SIM Cards of People Who Haven’t Paid Taxes: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) blocked 105,000 SIM cards because their owners didn’t pay taxes. This action aims to make people follow tax rules. FBR gives data of 5,000 non-taxpayers daily to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). If these non-taxpayers pay their taxes, they can use their SIM cards again.

So far, 18,902 SIM cards got reactivated after their owners paid taxes and became active taxpayers. Earlier, FBR said they didn’t block SIM cards of people who paid taxes. They clarified that there’s no system to block tax-paying people’s SIM cards.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued an order to block the SIM cards of over 506,671 people who haven’t paid taxes. These individuals were identified across Pakistan. Even though they should file tax returns, they haven’t done so, as per FBR’s Active Tax Payer List.

The FBR spokesperson said that despite being eligible, these individuals haven’t paid taxes. So, the FBR started taking action against them. They warned tax evaders that if they don’t file tax returns, their SIM cards could be blocked anytime.

The FBR is serious about this issue and wants people to fulfil their tax obligations. They’re ready to block SIM cards of those who don’t comply with tax rules.
