Elon Musk’s Texas Tesla Gigafactory is expanding to house a new AI supercomputer cluster, utilizing Supermicro’s advanced liquid cooling technology. This setup, also adopted by xAI for their upcoming

supercomputer, aims to revolutionize large-scale AI data centers. Supermicro CEO Charles Liang expressed enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the potential environmental impact of reducing energy consumption in data centers, equating it to potentially saving 20 billion trees globally. Musk’s Gigafactory expansion will feature 50,000 Nvidia GPUs initially, with plans for significant growth to support Tesla’s Full Self Driving technology. The project is nearing completion and expected to go live within months, consuming up to 130 megawatts initially and scaling up to 500MW in the next 18 months.
