Cillian Murphy is coming back for Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later.”
The new movie “28 Years Later” is making headlines with updates. It’s the start of a trilogy following the zombie horror films “28 Days Later” and “28 Weeks Later.” Recently, actors Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes joined the cast. Director Nia DaCosta might helm the next movie in the series.
Cillian Murphy, who won an Oscar for “Oppenheimer,” is not just producing but also returning to act in “28 Years Later.” The chairman of Sony Motion Pictures, Tom Rothman, confirmed this exciting news. He hinted that Murphy’s role will be surprising and evolving.
As for the story, it’s not a direct sequel to the previous films. But considering how “28 Weeks Later” ended with the Rage virus spreading to France, it’s safe to assume humanity is still in trouble. The movie is written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle. It’s set to hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
