Chinese carmaker BYD has introduced the “Shark PHEV” to rival the Toyota Hilux.
Chinese carmaker BYD has launched a new truck called the Shark. It’s meant to compete with popular trucks like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
The Shark has a tough design inspired by sharks and sits high off the ground at 282mm. It runs on a mix of a small turbocharged engine, a strong hybrid system, and a large battery.
This setup lets the Shark drive about 100 kilometers on electricity alone and up to 850 kilometers when using both electricity and fuel.
Inside, it has a big digital screen for the dashboard, a large screen for entertainment, and other modern features.
However, selling Chinese cars in the US can be tough because of rules, which could cause some challenges for BYD.
Even with these challenges, BYD is pushing into the truck market, hoping to attract buyers who want a truck that’s powerful, efficient, and packed with modern tech.
