Disney Studios confirmed that Catherine Laga’aia as the new live-action Moana
Disney Studios has officially announced Catherine Laga’aia as the lead in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Moana. The news was shared on Instagram, featuring a photo of Catherine accompanied by a caption revealing her alongside Dwayne Johnson as Maui, John Tui as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as Sina, and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala. Production for the new rendition is set to begin this summer.
In a press release, Catherine expressed her excitement about portraying Moana, stating, “I’m thrilled to take on this role as Moana has always been close to my heart. My grandfather hails from Fa’aala, Palauli, in Savai’i, and my grandmother from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu’ in Samoa.” She added, “It’s an honor to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island cultures, and to represent young girls who share my heritage.”
With the cast confirmed, Disney fans eagerly anticipate this next chapter in their beloved franchise, with social media buzzing as enthusiasts share their enthusiasm for the upcoming movie.
