Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan Retain Positions in ICC T20I Rankings The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest T20I rankings on Wednesday, confirming no changes in the positions of Pakistan’s top-order batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who remain fourth and fifth respectively, with ratings of 755 and 746. Australia’s Travis Head continues to lead the rankings for batters.
India’s Suryakumar Yadav surged to the second position after an impressive performance in the recent five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, where India emerged victorious 4-1. Indian skipper Shubman Gill also made significant gains, moving up 36 places to 37th position after scoring 170 runs in five innings. This placed him ahead of Rohit Sharma (42nd) and Virat Kohli (51st), who retired from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Additionally, Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are ranked 6th and 8th respectively.
In the T20I bowlers’ rankings, Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani climbed 11 places to 44th position following his performance against India. Indian bowlers Washington Sundar (up 36 spots to 46th) and Mukesh Kumar (up 21 places to 73rd) also saw improvements in their rankings.
Adil Rashid of England retained the top position in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, with Anrich Nortje of South Africa and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka holding the second and third spots respectively.
In Test cricket, England players showed significant improvement in the rankings after their dominant performance against the West Indies at Lord’s. Ben Stokes and other top-order batsmen like Zak Crawley and Ollie Pope gained ground on the Test batters’ list. Harry Brook moved up three places to 7th, Zak Crawley rose three spots to 13th, and Ollie Pope climbed three places to 29th.
Newcomers Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson also made their mark in Test cricket rankings. Jamie Smith entered the batting rankings at 75th position following his half-century against the West Indies, while Gus Atkinson debuted in the bowling rankings at 52nd after an impressive 12-wicket haul.
