A big fire started in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills once more.
Once again, there was a big fire in Margalla Hills National Park in Islamabad on Friday. It happened because it was very hot. The fire started close to Kelenjar village and quickly spread all over the hills. When people saw the fire, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and firefighters went there fast to try to stop it.
A lot of people recorded videos of the smoke coming from the hills and talked about how they were worried about the animals living there. There were already two fires in nearby places called Chiran Di Gali and Saidpur not long ago. It took firefighters and three helicopters from the military and the Prime Minister’s Office about seven hours to stop those fires.
The day after, there were new fires in 15 different spots. It took eight more hours of tough work to put them out.
Margalla Hills National Park is very big, covering 12,605 hectares. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) take care of it.
Many fires happening often have made people really worried about the animals and plants in the park. They’re also worried if the authorities can deal with these emergencies well. This shows how hard it is to deal with very hot weather and how important it is to have better plans to stop fires in the park.
